Downtown Columbia Development Advocates Celebrate City's Birthday

June 23, 2010 - Supporters of development plans for downtown Columbia, MD held a birthday celebration for the planned community, which turns 43 this year. The event, sponsored by advocacy groups Bring Back the Vision, Columbia 2.0, Columbia Tomorrow, and New City Alliance, celebrated what organizers described as a "renewed vision" for the growth and development of Columbia. The event featured food, drinks, music, and a special appearance from "Edna Turnblad", one of the characters from the Toby's Dinner Theater production of the musical Hairspray, singing "Happy Birthday."
