The ribbon was cut today on the Franklin Center—the new location of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). The company recently signed a lease for 170,000 square feet of the 200,000 square foot building with the Trammell Crow Company. It is said to be one of the biggest leases signed in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor within the last decade.

SAIC plans to consolidate several offices in the Columbia region into the Franklin Center. The company will soon relocate 600 employees from six locations into the building. It also has plans to fill nearly 200 positions in a variety of its locations in Howard County and the surrounding area.

In addition, the building will reduce SAIC’s environmental footprint by moving into a brand new building that’s in the process of obtaining the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
