Highland, MD– Mount Zion United Methodist Church launched its 2012 Legacy Campaign with a celebratory morning of worship followed by lunch in Fellowship Hall. The Legacy campaign is intertwined with the church’s 150th Anniversary, which includes a weeklong celebration starting on July 10th and culminating with a special worship service on Sunday, July 15th in the church’s sanctuary.
The focus of the campaign is threefold: eliminating the church’s current mortgage, addressing necessary facility maintenance and infrastructure needs and funding more opportunities for mission and outreach.
Lead Pastor Malcolm Stranathan announced that some members of our Church Family have already pledged their support to the campaign and the current total has already surpassed the grand total from the previous campaign [eight years ago ]. He was quoted as saying "I am so pleased that these members of Mount Zion have shown their dedication to and passion for this church through their gifts.” To date, the church has received over $775,000 in pledges and the campaign will continue across the next two months.
