Christ Church in Columbia to Hold Special Historical Services

On Sunday, July 25, Christ Episcopal Church in Columbia will commemorate the presentation of its silver Flagon, Chalice and Paten that was given to parishioners by the Rev. James Macgill on
August 2, 1748. Please join us for one of three special historical services in our Old Brick Church at 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11:00
AM
.

Located at the corner of Oakland Mills and Dobbin roads, each service will celebrate Holy Communion from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Plus, “a special guest preacher
from the past” will join us at each service. We encourage you to feel free to
attend in period dress, but it is not in any way required. Nursery
care will be provided in New Brick during the 9:30 and 11:00 AM
services.

Please note, there will be no services in New Brick on Sunday, and no Godly Play.

We have rented a large, portable air conditioner that we will use to cool down Old Brick Saturday evening and during each of the three services. While we do not expect that this will make it cold
inside, it will take the oppressive edge off so that we can worship in
comfort.

These special services are a part of the congregation's celebration of the 200th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone of Old Brick in August, 2009. Old Brick is the oldest church building still in use in Howard County. It's congregation actually dates back as far as 1711!

Please visit our website or join us on Facebook next week for pictures from our commemorative services.
