Glenwood Students Receive National Recognition for Recycling Project

Glenwood Middle School eighth graders Jessica Dietz, Grant Whitman, and Zachary Wright received an Honorable Mention in the Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge for their work on decreasing outgoing waste from Glenwood Middle School.

Howard County Announces New Holiday Schedule for Residential Curbside Collection

Effective Memorial Day 2009, Howard County will implement a new “slide” schedule for trash, recycling and yard waste collection on the six major holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The “slide” schedule means that when one of the above major holidays falls on a weekday (Monday-Friday), ALL trash, recycling and yardwaste collection scheduled on or after the holiday that week will “slide” one day.

Two Presidential Scholars at Centennial High

Watch Out for Road Painting Crews

It’s road striping time again. The Department of Public Works has started to paint crosswalks and yellow and white stripes on portions of county-maintained roads, an important safety feature for motorists and pedestrians. Drivers are urged to show caution and patience when they observe a paint truck and its “follow-truck” driving slowly in the roadway at 8 to 12 miles an hour. Weather permitting, the Department anticipates the striping project to be completed by mid-July.…

Cradlerock School Team Wins State MESA Title

Forbes Names Coulmbia As A Top 25 Town

Columbia, Maryland has been named seventh among “America’s Top 25 Towns to Live Well”, as determined by Forbes Magazine.
