Effective Memorial Day 2009, Howard County will implement a new “slide” schedule for trash, recycling and yard waste collection on the six major holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. It’s road striping time again. The Department of Public Works has started to paint crosswalks and yellow and white stripes on portions of county-maintained roads, an important safety feature for motorists and pedestrians. Drivers are urged to show caution and patience when they observe a paint truck and its “follow-truck” driving slowly in the roadway at 8 to 12 miles an hour. Weather permitting, the Department anticipates the striping project to be completed by mid-July.…
