Turned Wood 2009 - Exhibition in Columbia Art Center Galleries

The Columbia Association Art Center is featuring the exhibition Turned Wood 2009. The show runs through October 11, 2009. Laura Linback Takes Two First-Place Trophies at the Columbia Classic Grand Prix

For the second year in a row, Laura Linback of Long Grove, Illinois, took first place in the 22nd annual $40,000 Columbia Classic Grand Prix, riding the same horse as last year, As Di Villagana of Woodrun farm. Hammond Middle School Named National Blue Ribbon School

Hammond Middle School, 8110 Aladdin Drive in Laurel, is one of 314 schools to be named 2009 National Blue Ribbon Schools, according to information released today by the United States Department of Education today. Hammond was named a Maryland Blue Ribbon School in December 2008.

Rural Fire Protection Project Begins After Labor Day

A Howard County construction project along Route 97 at the intersection of Longfield Road is scheduled to begin on or about Tuesday, September 8. The project will involve minimal clearing and excavation to provide for the installation of a 30,000-gallon underground water storage tank for fire suppression.
