Hammond Middle School, 8110 Aladdin Drive in Laurel, is one of 314 schools to be named 2009 National Blue Ribbon Schools, according to information released today by the United States Department of Education today. Hammond was named a Maryland Blue Ribbon School in December 2008.

A Howard County construction project along Route 97 at the intersection of Longfield Road is scheduled to begin on or about Tuesday, September 8. The project will involve minimal clearing and excavation to provide for the installation of a 30,000-gallon underground water storage tank for fire suppression. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-October.…
