CAC of Howard County Named a Baltimore Sun "Top Workplace"

Benefit Concert at Glenelg United Methodist Church

November 13, 2011 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm
Choirs from five churches will join forces for a Benefit Concert on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m. at Glenelg United Methodist Church, 13900 Burntwoods Road in Glenelg.  The event will benefit the American Cancer Society. The choirs are all from United Methodist churches.  They are Bethany, Glenelg, Glen Mar, Linden-Linthicum, and Mt. CAC Provides Lunches to Young County Residents

This summer, the Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) is not relying solely on its Howard County Food Bank to help Howard County residents obtain ample, nutritious food.  CAC is taking box lunches to the county’s youngest citizens – from toddlers to 18 year olds – in two locations.  CAC’s Summer Food Program, held in partnership with Community Homes Housing, began June 27 and continues every weekday through August 5.  The program is held from noon to 1 p.m. at Rideout Heath-Homework…See More

Third Graders Enjoy Reward for Raising Money

      Students sometimes have fantasies of engulfing a teacher in toilet paper or hurling water balloons in an instructor’s direction.       Those fantasies became realities for third graders during an assembly at Elkridge Elementary School on June 10.  The third-grade teaching team staged the assembly to reward the 153 third graders for raising more than $1,000 for the American Cancer Society (ACS). Relay For Life of Howard County at Hammond High School Raises $190,000 for American Cancer Society

  The battle against cancer gained a lot of local momentum June 3rd and 4th when 800 people participated in the 16th annual Relay For Life of Howard County at Hammond High School. Howard County's Relay For Life. We celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Each year we hold an overnight event and raise more than a quarter million dollars. We also hold events leading up to our annual Relay.

Brief Bio
I have a husband, two children, and four grandchildren. I have worked in many fields including the legal profession and the non-profit world. I currently do volunteer work for the American Cancer Society's Howard County Relay For Life and Community Action Council of Howard County. I also donate platelets to the American Red Cross regularly.

I recently retired to care for my daughter's son who was born in January. I have worked as Assistant to the President of the Community Action Council of Howard County, a legal assistant at Reese & Carney, and as a journalist at Patuxent Publishing Company.

I enjoy walking, volksmarching, biking, and scrapbooking.
