Leadership Howard County General Membership Luncheon

Leadership Howard County welcomes Chet Burrell, President and Chief Executive Officer of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, the largest health care insurer in the Mid-Atlantic
region, serving nearly 3.4 million members.

The background and experience that Mr. Burrell brings to our discussion is rich. Throughout his career, he has served in senior level positions for Anthem and Empire
Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, a health claims processing company, a managed care technology company, as well as serving in the New York State government in a variety of
capacities: the Office of Mental Health; Office of Health Systems Management and the Governor’s Staff.

Mr. Burrell will discuss CareFirst’s efforts to control escalating health care costs and finding new ways to engage consumers and physicians in improving health care. His
broad health care experience also allows him to provide a unique perspective on federal health reform.
